Sharing the Internet World

Ernie and I have been married 38 years this year. I was a child bride. <GGG> He tells me, we've survived because he learned early in our marriage to say YES DEAR. : ) We have two grown Single Children, that are the lights of our life and we are very proud of both of them. They are single, independent, and work hard. They are always ready to help us out, what more can we ask for? My Lovely Family is in Albuq., New Mexico and I try to make at least three trips a year there to catch up with my two sisters and my two brothers that live there. ( I have one brother and his wife here in California ) For being such a large family, we get along so well and if you'd like to take a peek at a wonderful Family Reunion, we just had, click HERE.

WE have an adorable dog named Sparkles and she is the apple of my eye. She is part Pomerian and Part Toy poodle, and she follows me every where I go and I love her a lot.

I started surfing the net about 5 years ago, and little did I know that it was going to lead to a new world for me. It's a world of friendship, lists, learning, sharing and caring. One of the wonderful friends I've made on the internet is Vicki C. from Imaginarium. We yet have to meet face to face, but we've shared so much together since we first met on a Paint Shop Pro list, we do "know" each other. : ) There are so many friends I feel that way about and have had the wonderful opportunity to meet many of them. : _) They've always been there to lend me a helping hand and teach me the basics of surging, internet use and the joys of Yahoo Lists.

Here is a picture of my family who have enjoyed along with me the joys of the internet. My Son Richard, Me, my Daughter Lisa and my Hubby Ernie. They benefit from the many things that I learn as I share with them, and I have to say my hubby totally supports my internet addiction. Of course, it gives him more time to play golf. LOL

One of the first lists I joined which opened my eyes to all the wonders of the internet was the Pals list. Check out the Pals Group You couldn't ask for a more helpful group of friends. They teach you to take your computer and printer and truly create gifts, bazaar items, greeting cards, and so many more things that you would never dream you could do with your computer. I met a very dear friend Tangee, on the list. We attended a rubber stamp show together and she had her daughters with her. I love to wear gold tennis shoes and they were so impressed with the gold shoes, I was nicknamed Goldshoes Tish and the name has stuck. We have an annual Pal's convention in different Cities all over the US and it has become tradition to take a picture of my goldshoes as an offical launch of the convention. LOL

I thought I was in Heaven after finding the Pals list, but did not really know what Heaven was until I discovered PSP..... I wanted to enhance photographs and graphics for my crafts and greeting cards and just didn't know how to do it. I had heard so much about PSP and decided it was time for me to learn it, so I took an online class and have never regretted it. After the class was over, we needed a place to go to share more tutorials and friendship. I started the PSP Magic list two years so we could continue sharing and learning and the continued friendship. Many of the original members are still on the list. The list has grown and we now have a waiting list, and we have shared many good times and tutorials over the two years. We are very grateful to the wonderful PSP tutorial writers that are so willing to share their talents, time and creativity with us and teach us new ways to use PSP.

As I got more involved with PSP lists and met so many sharing friends, I wanted a way to be able to give back to the PSP and Pals communities. How do you do this? Well, now I have to learn how to do web pages so I have a method of sharing. ON to more classes. : ) I just recently completed HTML1 and am looking forward to the second session of HTML classes.

If you want to start a PSP list or a list to cover one of your favorite hobbies, go for it. It can be a lot of work, but it can also be a lot of fun, and you will make lifetime friends from lists. The internet is a "Small World" after all. : ) I would recommend that when you start a list, you start out as a private list, and hand pick your group members until you are up and running and have worked out some of the details. What details do you need to work out? You need to have some "Guidelines".... It's a good idea to check other lists and find out what their guidelines are to give you some ideas on how you want your list to be structured. If you are going to allow attachments, graphics, you want to clarify what kind of graphics can be sent in. If it's a G rated list, you want the members to know that. Do you expect participation or is lurking ok? Specify that in your guidelines. Is it ok to chat and make comments to each other thru the list or do you prefer that those types of messages go privately to the individuals. That would depend on the size of your list. If you have lots of members, and you allow the private conversations to go thru the list, it makes for a lot of Email. I have my list set up so that the members can send kudos privately to the sender but strongly recommend that all questions and answers come thru the list so we can all learn from each other.

If you are going to use tutorials off the internet, please be sure you ask permission of the tutorial writers and do not take anything off their sites. Post a link to their site so that the members can go to the site themselves and see the other goodies available. If you create a results page, the tutorial writers love to see what the PSP users do with their tutorials, so be sure and invite them to take a look at your results pages.

Upon closing, I would just like to say to anyone that is new to the internet, to PSP or to any other program that you've wanted to learn, don't be shy. Dive in, ask questions and most of all have fun. You will find that most of the online communities are very willing to share their knowledge and talents. The only "Dumb" questions are the ones not asked. Find a list to join, a newsgroup to join and if you are interested in learning PSP, do not hesitate to join the Imaginarium group. I can promise you that you will not be disappointed.

Also, if you do a PSP tutorial that you enjoy, please take a minute and write to the tutorial writer and let them know that you learned from the tutorial and enjoyed it. They take a lot of time to help us out and the least we can do is write them and thank them.

"Hugs from Tish to all of you and may all your days be filled with Magic."
